Built because the tools that should have helped… didn't.
I'm Rob, and I built Aldous because I kept losing touch with the people who mattered most to my business.
As an independent consultant, relationships are everything. Every project, every referral, every piece of work I'm proud of — it all traces back to someone I stayed close to. I knew this. And yet, three months would pass and I'd realise I hadn't spoken to a key client. Or I'd walk into a meeting and struggle to remember what we'd last discussed.
I tried the CRMs. All of them. They all had the same problem: they created more work. I'd spend my evenings logging data instead of actually talking to people. After a few weeks, I'd stop. The CRM would become a graveyard of good intentions.
The realisation
The problem wasn't discipline. It was that these tools expected me to change how I work. I don't live in a dashboard. I live in WhatsApp, in email, in conversations over coffee. I needed something that lived there too.
So I built Aldous. Not a CRM. Not a productivity tool. Something closer to a colleague — one who remembers everything, notices what I'd miss, and gently nudges me before things go quiet. All inside the tools I already use, without asking me to change a single thing about my day.
What we believe
Relationships aren't managed. They're looked after. The best tools disappear into how you already work. They don't ask for your attention — they earn it by being useful at the right moment.
Software should fit around you. If you work in WhatsApp, your relationship tool should work in WhatsApp too. You shouldn't have to learn a new interface to be better at something you already care about.
The best follow-up is the one that actually happens. A perfect email sitting in a draft folder is worth less than a decent one that gets sent. Aldous's job is to make sure the important things actually happen.
Trust is earned slowly and taken seriously. When you let a tool into your relationships, that's a significant act of trust. We don't take it lightly. Your data is yours, always.
